Equipment for snorkeling, canoes, dugout, stand up paddles, beach games graciously at your disposal.

To your liking and without extra charge: languorous lazing on the beach or on decks where sun beds and umbrellas await you. A free walk in the heart of the Eden Garden, the Botanical Garden where more than 140 species are cultivated, including young Boababs & Pachypodiums.

Stunningly beautiful location – as you arrive by boat and see the bungalows and beach bar nestled beneath gorgeous palm trees which line the white sand beach and blindingly blue ocean, you’ll find yourself pinching yourself to check that it isn’t all a dream!

Chill out at the beach bar with a cold beer or exotic island cocktail served up by the unfailingly friendly barman Jackson before cooling off by plunging into the inviting water just metres away!

The beach at Sambatra definitely offers the best swimming along the island’s west coast – and if you’re keen on snorkeling, then the fringing reef that lies just offshore is an easy swim away.

Great base to soak up the island’s many and charming attractions – from regular visits from a family of friendly lemurs, whale watching trips (in the winter season), bonfires on the beach under the night skies, to picnics on pristine sand banks in the middle of the ocean (to name just a few!)

Pirate Cemetery

Would you believe St Marie has one.

Small but playing a part in educating the community with Madagascar’s local wild life, fauna and flora.
Ile Aux Natte Lighthouse

Pay a small fee and see a breath-taking view of the entire southern reef.
Reef Snorkelling

Do this whenever, where ever, so many spots to choose from.
Ile Aux Sable – Chartering out to 2 small sand bars where fishing and snorkeling are a must.

Sambatra Beach Lodge

Sambatra Beach Lodge is situated off the North East Coast of the Main Land Madagascar, across from the Southern tip of St Marie, a paradise called Ile Aux Natte Island. It’s a 45min flight from the capital Antananarivo. On arrival, a 5min short taxi ride will take you to the tip of St Marie Island, where a 10min pirogue will bring you across the estuary to Ile Aux Natte Island.

The Bungalows ensure comfort and space, individually decorated, each bungalow has its own basin, shower and toilet, let’s not forget the hot water. Entrance’s to the bungalows have a private covered patio with an amazing view of Sambatra’s Reef, with a back drop of main land Madagascar offering beautiful afternoon sunsets.

Vincent, the infectiously enthusiastic and friendly young South African owner, has created a wonderfully relaxed and laid-back ambience here that will be especially attractive to young travelers.

Restaurant and Beach Bar

The Restaurant is located slightly back from the beach, where you can enjoy great fresh food produced daily by the local chef, with Malagasy, French and South African influences.

Sambatra’s Beach Bar “Hot Orange” is located on a beautiful white sand beach. Do as the pirates did many years ago and enjoy the local rum , while watching the sunset upon the Indian Ocean. Enjoy the warm and relaxed ambiance while listening to your favourite music playing from a great selection.
