Horse Riding

The Magalies River Trail is suitable for beginners and experienced riders alike.

The trail follows a bridle path along the banks of the Magalies River, under the canopy of the lush forest trees.

The route also covers natural indigenous bush area through the cattle camp and crosses the farmed lands with fields of Lucerne. This ride can be enjoyed by the whole family and is paced according to the experience of the riders.


A trail guide will accompany you and provide information and assistance.

Trotting and cantering is possible depending on level of experience, otherwise this trail is enjoyed at the walk.

Quad Biking

Experience the thrill of an Eco Quad Bike on a safe, user friendly Suzuki 250 Ozark machine. Guided trails lasting approximately 60 minutes, takes the adventure seeker on a scenic ride. Crossing the river Magalies, travelling through farm fields, passing frolicking horses and grazing cattle our route takes us up into the foothills of the Majestic Magalies mountain range. We will follow a farm path at a comfortable safe pace going through the natural indigenous bush and pristine farm lands. Take in the fresh air and mountain views as we head up to a panoramic high point where we view the whole Skeerpoort valley and Hartebeespoort Dam.

Crash helmet and goggles are provided for your safety, wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear. Quad bikes are suitable for 16 years old and up. Younger children can ride as passengers at an additional R100.00. A drinks stop provides opportunity to gather your thoughts and appreciate the beauty of our valley… Life’s good and memories are made!

Description Paddle along the Magalies River in a single or double Canoe. Watch nature and birdlife from the water as you glide with the current. We have approx. 4 km of River that can be paddled, passing fields and bush terrain. Sit back and enjoy the flow of the Magalies River help you drift back to the launch point. Enjoy a swim in the river or sit and view nature at one of the resting points along the river bank.

Launch from the Picnic spot at the river bank and paddle upstream, negotiating some of the logs and rapids along the way.
Operates weekends and Holidays.

Inclusions Canoe, single or double with paddle and life jacket.

Exclusions Food and drinks can be had at the Restaurant.

Bring Swim costume and towel, dry clothes for when you are finished.
Waterproof camera or Waterproof phone.
Sun block.
Sun Hat.

Fitness Must be able to swim.
Otherwise no special fitness or requirements.

What to Wear Outdoor clothes or swim costume.

Skills We will give you a brief instruction as to how to operate the canoe, paddle and secure the canoe in order to get on or off.




With breathtaking panoramic views, privately secluded in picturesque locations, both overlooking the Magalies river, these two thatched roofed, self catering chalets offer the perfect getaway option for the weary and for the adventurous. Warm homely comfort and a practical arrangement makes for a perfect place of rest. A perfect romantic getaway! Down the embankment you will find idyllic picnic spots right on the river’s edge. A few hundred meters away, out of sight, the Hollybrooke Coffee Shoppe catering for the hungry and thirsty, and will provide a romantic picnic basket upon request!

Each chalet can sleep 4 (1 bedroom with a double bed and 2 single beds in the open lounge). Regrettably, no pets allowed unless by prior arrangement.



A warm, spacious and homely atmosphere is created by the rock hewn “Hartebeeshuis” style farm house. Built entirely from indigenous material off the farm, this has been designed to house 14 people in comfort.

Each room has its own extra wide stoep (porch) under which hours can be spent relaxing, reading, playing board games or just plain resting after an adventure filled day.

Ideal to house Team Building groups, or large families.


There is no itinerary for this adventure.
